Shir Ami has High Holidays help

For women raising children in an interfaith marriage or anyone seeking insight into the Jewish High Holidays, the Mothers High Holiday Highlights class may hold the answers to their questions.

Congregation Shir Ami, Greenwich Reform Synagogue, Hebrew Wizards, Jewish Family Services of Greenwich, PJ Library, and Temple Sholom are partnering together to sponsor the program, which was developed by the Jewish Outreach Institute.

Taught by Lisa-Loraine Smith, executive director of Jewish Family Services of Greenwich, the two-hour class is designed for all women who seek information and want to discover how they can enrich their family’s experience of the High Holidays. The class is free and interactive, preparing participants to celebrate Rosh Hashanah and honor Yom Kippur in more meaningful ways with their families.

Through hands-on activities and stimulating discussion, participants will explore the how-to’s and purpose behind the High Holiday rituals, examine some of the prayers heard in synagogue and the home and learn the virtues of traditional Rosh Hashanah foods and the concepts behind fasting for Yom Kippur.

The High Holiday Highlights prep class will be held at Greenwich Library on Monday, September 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
