YMCA of Greenwich helps train athletes for IronMan Championships

The 2014 IronMan Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii takes place tomorrow and Greenwich will be well represented. Seven local athletes completed their training for the event at the YMCA of Greenwich.

Mitch West, Mike Christie, Tara Kupersmith, Stephen Redwood, Anja Krieger-Redwood, Bruce Cook, John Wilson and Peter Mullen have been training together at the YMCA of Greenwich for the Iron Man Championship. Six of them will be competing in Saturday’s race.

The long-distance triathlon involves a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a full 26.2-mile marathon run.

The YMCA of Greenwich is proud to have supported these athletes in their training for one of the most difficult, demanding and esteemed athletic events in the world.
