Brunswick water polo gets revenge on Lawrenceville, wins 18-9

The Brunswick School water polo team was fired up for its game Wednesday afternoon when they hosted Lawrenceville School from New Jersey.

Last year, the Bruins traveled to Lawrenceville and came away with a rare defeat. This time around was much different, as Brunswick opened a 7-2 first quarter lead and crushed Lawrenceville the rest of the way, winning 18-9.

It didn’t take long for the Bruins to get on the scoreboard, as Pat Stefanou opened the scoring 20 seconds into the game. After Lawrenceville answered back, Brunswick went on to score six unanswered goals. The Bruins finished the first half leading¬†10-3, however in the third quarter, Lawrenceville closed the gap to 10-7 before Brunswick once again exerted its will and finished the game with an 18-9 victory.

Stefanou was the leading scorer for Brunswick, finishing with five goals. The duo of Alex Prout and Will Marvin each finished with four goals. Matt Marvin added the hat trick, while Simon Derby and James Granruth each picked up a goal. Charlie Pang was solid in net again, finishing with eight save.

The Bruins will return to action next Wednesday when they host Greenwich High School.
