Victoria Slater won the Jefferson Book Award.

Rising Stanwich School senior Victoria Slater was recently chosen as a recipient of the Jefferson Book Award by the University of Virginia.

The goal of the university’s Jefferson Scholars Foundation is to nurture future leaders. The honor is given to a high school junior considered to best represent the Jeffersonian ideals of scholarship, leadership and citizenship. The most well-rounded student, rather than the person with the highest GPA, is chosen.

Ms. Slater was given a copy of Quotable Jefferson, and said, “I was so surprised and was not expecting this award at all! I have been wanting to go to the University of Virginia for so long and cannot wait to apply this fall.”
