A toast to clean water

Residents will have a chance to snag some of the best vintage wines around on Sept. 8 at the Mission Granbois Silent Wine Auction, which benefits the Village of Granbois, Haiti Clean Water Campaign.

Glenville Wine, Horseneck Wine and Le Wine Shop will each choose three separate packages of vintage wines valued at $100, $200 and $300 at its wholesale cost. Packages are purchased in advance by sponsors who donate them to the Mission Granbois French Cabaret event and receive a tax deduction for their donation.

At the auction, each store provides a short description about each package they have selected and a suggested retail price for each package level. The descriptions and the suggested retail value will be used by auction buyers as a guide for bidding. Winning bidders will receive a tax deduction for the difference between the whole sale cost of the item and the winning bid.

The store whose three packages generates the most funds for the charity will own sole and exclusive bragging rights for its efforts.

The event will take place at the Round Hill Community Church on 395 Round Hill Road.

Participants must pay for and receive packages by no later than Thursday, Sept. 6.
