Sacred Heart soccer scores key FAA win over St. Luke’s, 2-0

Traveling up to New Canaan, the Convent of the Sacred Heart soccer team kept the good times rolling earlier today by shutting out St. Luke’s School, 2-0.

In the 56th minute, the Tigers got on the scoreboard first. In a scramble for the ball in the box off a corner kick, junior Tracey Hagan booted the ball to sophomore Grace Paletta, who slammed the ball past the St. Luke’s goalie for the 1-0 lead.

Nine minutes later, Sacred Heart added its insurance run. Hagan gained control of the ball and darted down the right side. She then cut in at the flag and blasted a low ball in front of the St. Luke’s net, where junior Kaitlyn Adamini connected on the one-hit shot for the 2-0 score.

In net, Sacred Heart junior Alessandra Nocco finished with four saves, while St. Luke’s Brittany Barton netted six saves. In total, the Tigers finished with 10 shots, while St. Luke’s added eight.
