Floren is everything we could ever want and more

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

My good friend and legislature colleague, Livvy Floren, is running for her eighth term in the Connecticut State Legislature this fall.

How fortunate for the 149th District, for Greenwich, for Stamford, and for the state that Livvy is willing to continue making the commute to Hartford and serve her many constituents. Livvy is the consummate legislator: prepared, collegial, experienced, dedicated, and wise.

Livvy is always prepared and knows the facts, whether she is voting on a bill on the floor of the House or speaking on legislative issues before the United Way or League of Women Voters here in Greenwich and Stamford. She is collegial — whether conferring with a constituent, a colleague (on either side of the aisle), a committee chair, or the governor.

Livvy is experienced, having served 14 years in Hartford. She knows the ropes, when to press and when to press harder. Livvy is dedicated to her job and her constituents. She is always present at hearings and committee meetings in Hartford and ribbon cuttings and constituent events here at home.

Livvy is wise. She understands the politics of policy making and the policy making inherent in her legislative position. Plus Livvy has brought back the bacon for Greenwich and Stamford. As ranking member of the House Bonding Committee, Livvy has been instrumental in obtaining funding for Nathaniel Witherell, Pathways, Hill House, Greenwich Point Conservancy, Kids in Crisis, the Family Centers, Boys & Girls Club, the Family Centers, and the Bruce Museum.

She was a key organizer in maintaining Connecticut’s digital media and film tax credits, which attracted Blue Sky Studios and NBC sports. Early in her legislative career, Livvy saved 15 acres from development in Stamford and turned them into parkland. Livvy was tireless in pushing for the funding and permitting for the rehabilitation of the south end of Stamford. The list goes on.

I cannot vote for Livvy, as I do not live in the 149th District, but I urge all those who do to vote for Livvy Floren and return her to Hartford this November. She’s all you could ask for in your legislator and more.
