U.S. Army captain, author and his service dog Tuesday to visit Greenwich Library

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m., former U.S. Army Capt. Luis Carlos Montalván and his enthusiastic service dog, Tuesday, will be the special guests of the Greenwich Library Children’s Room.

Montalván, a New York Times best-selling author, will read his first children’s book, Tuesday Tucks Me In — The Loyal Bond Between a Soldier and His Service Dog. All are welcome to attend this special event.

Capt. Montalván is a highly decorated 17-year veteran of the U.S. Army. In 2010 he completed a master of science degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

Capt. Montalván is a recipient of the Invisible Hero Honors Award for his efforts to educate the public about trauma and the real experiences of veterans and all those living with disabilities. In 2012 his first book, Until Tuesday, won the USA Best Book Award in the  Autobiography/Memoir and Audiobook Nonfiction categories; it was also a finalist for an APA Audie Award and two International Latino Book Awards.

Tuesday, Mr. Montalván’s intelligent and loving service dog, is the AKC’s 2013 recipient of the Humane Fund Award for Canine Excellence in the service dog category. For more information, visit Until-tuesday.com.

The program is made possible through the support of the Greenwich Library board of trustees and contributions by generous donors. Books will be available for purchase and signing. The talk is open to all at no charge, but space in the Children’s Room is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
