Recently, Eagle Hill Lower School students, under the instruction of Ms. DiCarlo, had an incredible opportunity to learn more about fire safety and the life of a firefighter

As a component of the school’s “Our Community and Community Helpers” core content unit, the class was visited by Brian Farrell of the Hartsdale Fire Department in New York.

Mr. Farrell discussed his profession, shared some safety tips and answered questions.

The students were able to see Mr. Farrell in his fire uniform and equipment as well as learn about the function of each.

They even had the chance to try a few pieces on.

According to the school, students left the class smiling, excited and with a red fire helmet of their very own.

Eagle Hill School is in its 40th year of helping children with language-based learning disabilities acquire the academic and social skills necessary for transition to a traditional learning environment.

Eagle Hill School provides 250 students ages six to 16 an educational experience that is skills- rather than grade-driven.

The school said that having a student-teacher ratio ranging from 1:1 to 12:1 “ensures that each child receives an extraordinarily customized education.”
