University of Connecticut student Annaliese Sehulster and Greenwich resident John Agostino have just completed the summer working as intern and employee respectively with Friends of Autistic People (FAP) of Greenwich, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with autism.

According to FAP, they greatly enjoyed working with the organization to better the lives of all individuals on the autism spectrum and have used their time this summer learning about state and federal legislation on autism and other disabilities as well as the individuality of each instance of autism and the inner-workings of group homes, assessing the current employment prospects for individuals with autism, fund raising through social media and alternative channels and appealing to local celebrities for support.

Ms.  Sehulster, a rising senior psychology major, will continue to apply all that she has learned this summer to her position as chapter president of Best Buddies at UConn, an organization dedicated to forming friendships between students and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Mr. Agostino, a tutor and current teacher at Greenwich Education Group, has completed another of many years with FAP, working with the organization since he was in high school.

They both wish to thank Friends of Autistic People for the wonderful learning experience it gave them in helping change the lives of adolescents and adults with autism and urge everyone to donate to Friends of Autistic People by check or online at Autisticadults.net.
