State budget workshop at Town Hall

The League of Women Voters of Greenwich (LWVG) will present an educational forum, Budget Fundamentals All Connecticut Taxpayers Should Know, on Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Greenwich Town Hall in the Cone Room.

The public is invited to this discussion that will explore revenue, expenditures and the process of the state’s budget. Greenwich and other Fairfield County towns contribute significantly to the state’s budget; this event is free and ideal for residents who want to learn where their money goes.

This is the first in a LWVG series focused on Connecticut finances and will be followed by programs examining the bonding and pension-funding processes.

The program will feature Nancy Cooper, former CFO of CA Technologies and IMS and a Greenwich League board member, who will present her comprehensive study of the state’s budget process, including the various revenue streams, special accounts and funds, and budget assumptions.

Alan Calandro, director of the nonpartisan Office of Fiscal Analysis, will also participate, offering an independent assessment of the state of Connecticut finances.
