Friday deadline to register for Boys & Girls Club mud run

mud-run-BReady to get muddy? The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich sure hopes you are as it prepares for its third annual “Muddy Up 5K” Adventure Run and Family Fun Walk on Sunday, Oct. 5.

The event, as always, will take place at Camp Simmons at 744 Lake Avenue and more than 500 adults, teens, kids and families, ages six and older, are expected. But in order to take part you must register and the deadline for it is tomorrow, Sept. 26.

The 5K run/walk will take participants through rugged trails on 77 acres of pure wilderness. Participants will plunge through unique and man-made obstacles before traversing Camp Simmons’ legendary lake across the rope bridge followed by a “rinse” by the Greenwich Fire Department to clean off all that mud.

The event will not be timed, but some groups will receive awards such as team spirit, biggest fund-raiser, muddiest kid and more. Preview the course online at Youtu.be/uEsEFyAawK4.

The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich has a $100,000 goal for the event and people can help by contributing personally, leading a run/walk team, encouraging family and friends to participate, or being a sponsor. Registered runners and walkers will enjoy entertainment and receive food, refreshments and an event T-shirt. Lead sponsors for the event are All American Wrestling Club, Sageview Capital, Steven Fox Jewelry, Stone Point Capital and Titan Advisors

Each dollar generated in the mud run will support the club’s annual membership of 2,200 children and enable the club to continue to be affordable for all kids to be exposed to the unlimited opportunities that build character and self-confidence.
