It’s time again to get some exercise while paying tribute to a Greenwich resident who left us too soon, as a 5K in memory of John Zumbo returns.

People can participate in the eighth annual John Zumbo Scholarship Benefit 5K at Bruce Park on Oct. 5 at 9 a.m. Funds raised through the race will benefit seniors from Greenwich High School who are going to college and will be aided by the John D. Zumbo Scholarship award

The scholarship was established in memory of John Zumbo and celebrates his love of health and fitness. The course winds around a series of lovely ponds, rolling hills and naturally wooded areas that overlook Indian Harbor. Runners, walkers, adults with strollers and pets are welcome.

T-shirts will be given to all registrants, and prizes will be awarded in several categories. Small children may race for free in their own competitive event to be held at the picnic area.

Fees are as follows: $20 for adults, $5 for children under 12 years old. Registration online prior to the race at Zumboscholarship.com.
