Library plans October business programs

The Peterson Business Services Center at Greenwich Library has two exciting programs planned for October.

On Thursday, Oct. 2, the library will host Finding Support for Your College Education at 7 p.m. Securing financial aid for undergraduate or graduate studies is a daunting task for most students and their parents.

This basic introduction to the process focuses on private sources of scholarship funding, including foundations and associations. Participants of all ages learn the facts about various scholarship providers, how to assess their own financial needs and make a case for support and how to apply for scholarships and fellowships.

Presented by Judith Margolin in the library meeting room, register through our online calendar at Greenwichlibrary.org. For more information, contact business librarian Yang Wang at [email protected] or call 203-622-7924.

The center’s second program, Simple Steps for Starting A Business, will be held each Tuesday from Oct. 14 to Nov. 18 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The program is a series of five free workshops designed to help budding entrepreneurs define and evaluate their business idea, develop a business plan and identify funding sources.

The program will be held in the Greenwich Library Meeting Room. Class will not be held on Nov. 11. Contact Diane Winston at [email protected] or call 203-831-0065 to register.

Greenwich Library’s two full-time business librarians are available to help navigate the library’s extensive databases, directories, investor information and nonprofit resources via email or in person.

Patrons can sign up to use the Bloomberg Professional Service computer at the main reference desk or sign up in advance by calling 203-622-7910.

These programs are made available to library patrons at no charge through the support of the Greenwich Library board of trustees and contributions by generous donors. For more information, contact Mary Cuff at [email protected] or 203-622-6560.

Online registration is available at Greenwichlibrary.org.
