Brunswick School water polo crushes Exeter, Andover

The Brunswick School water polo team traveled up to Deerfield Academy over the weekend and left in impressive fashion, crushing both Phillips Exeter and Phillips Andover.

Against Phillips Exeter, the Bruins trailed early, falling behind 3-1 after one quarter and 4-2 to early in the second. However the rest of the way was all Brunswick, as they outscored  Phillips Exeter 12-2 the rest of the way and went on to the  14-4 win.

Simon Derby led the way for Brunswick with four goals, while Pat Stefanou added three goals. Will Marvin and Alex Prout each finished with two goals, while Julian Ronda, Thacher Scannell and Matt Marvin each tallied one goal.

In net, Charlie Pang finished with four saves.

Later in the day, Brunswick returned to the pool and made quick work over Phillips Andover. Scoring eight times in the first quarter, the Bruins blitzed Phillips Andover 17-4.

Matt Marvin dominated the competition, outscoring the entire Andover team with five goals. Prout added the hat trick, while Grant Pierce and Jack Muccia finished with two goals. Will Marvin, Scannell, Derby, Stefanou and Max Kilberg each netted one goal.

Brunswick is now 5-0 in the New England Prep School Water Polo League and will host Horace Mann on Monday. The Bruins will also welcome Suffield and Loomis on Saturday for Brunswick’s Homecoming.
