Sacred Heart volleyball blasts Deerfield, falls to Choate

It was a mixed day for the Convent of the Sacred Heart volleyball team.

Against Choate Rosemary Hall, the Tigers were shut out, however Sacred Heart was able to turn it around in the second game of the day and shut out Deerfield Academy.

Although CSH fell to Choate 3-0 (11-25, 18-25, 23-25), head coach Beth Wilson-Jordan was quite pleased with her team’s performance.

“I was very proud of the way the girls played,” Wilson-Jordan said. “While we still had more unforced errors than I like, I saw improvements in our serve receive and our defense. We played some of the best volleyball we played this season.”

The Tigers took that momentum and coasted past Deerfield Academy 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-17). Jenna Whalen finished with nine kills and 10 digs, while Grace McKenney added 20 assists, six digs, three kills and two aces.

Not to be outdone was Ellie McKenney, as she added three kills, nine digs and five aces. Marie Njie-Mitchell  added four kills, two blocks and two aces.
