Brunswick water polo blitzes Hotchkiss School 19-10

The Brunswick School water polo team flexed its muscles early and often during its game earlier today against Hotchkiss School. Scoring nine times in the opening quarter, the Bruins cruised the rest of the way, winning 19-10.

After Brunswick opened the game with a 9-0 advantage, the starters left the pool, allowing the rest of the team to log some important varsity minutes.

Leading the way for the Bruins was Thacher Scannell, who finished with four goals. James Granruth, Grant Pierce and Alex Prout added two goals each. Julian Ronda, Simon Derby, Pat Stefanou, Matt Marvin, Lucas Bell and Max Kilberg rounded out the scoring with one goal each.

Charlie Pang and Jack Ocken split time between the pipes for Brunswick, as each made five saves. One of the highlights for the Bruins was when Lucas Bell scored a backhand shot from the hole.

With the victory, Brunswick continued its undefeated season and are now 3-0 on the season.

On Saturday, the Bruins will travel to Deerfield to take on perennial powers Andover (1-1) and Exeter (2-0). Additionally, the 2-0 Hopkins squad will be at Deerfield, so the results from these games should reveal the early-season league leader.
