Greenwich High field hockey ties Fairfield Ludlowe 1-1

In a hard-fought field hockey game at Taft Field, the Greenwich High School field hockey team scored the equalizer in the second half and tied Fairfield Ludlowe High School 1-1 yesterday afternoon.

Trailing 1-0 heading into the second half, Big Red got on the board when Sarah Steinbaugh assisted a goal by Tania Iskander with 20:11 to play. The duo of Steinbaugh and Iskander were key throughout the game in Greenwich sustaining its attack.

It didn’t take too long for the Falcons to get on the scoreboard. With 1:31 gone by in the contest, they found the back of the net off a corner by Caroline Power.

In net for Greenwich was Leah Hotaling, who finished with seven saves. Helping keep the ball away from the goalie was the stellar defensive play of Anne Dunster, Sarah Cicchetti and Katie Renz.
