Balducci’s Food Lovers Market ready for Jewish high holiday celebrations

As people begin their preparation in earnest for the Jewish high holidays, Balducci’s Food Lovers Market in Riverside is offering assistance with its highly regarded catering business.

So if you’re worried about burning the brisket or oversalting the matzah balls, Balducci’s executive chefs are here to take the stress out of your holidays by offering a menu for a gourmet meal inspired by traditional customs and flavors.

Each item on Balducci’s specialty catering menu is “thoughtfully prepared” by the executive chefs at the market, according to the store.

That includes the classic matzah ball soup to traditional favorites like beef brisket and potato latkes.

“Balducci’s has all the dishes and specialty sides you remember without the hassle,” a store press release said.

Balducci’s, which is at 1050 East Putnam Avenue, is also offering tips for a stress-free Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur that it says can allow dinner to be elegant, simple and personal.

“I always serve a crowd favorite, like Balducci’s Sweet Noodle Kugel,” said Balducci’s executive chef Jason Miller. “That way, I’m sure there is something my guests will enjoy.”

“When serving several wines,” said Balducci’s wine merchant, John Coleman, “progress from lighter-bodied wines to fuller-bodied and from dryer to sweeter.”

John Coleman recommends a Golan Cabernet and a Golan Chardonnay from his favorite kosher winery.

“Give catered food a familiar touch by serving food in your favorite dishware, the platters and bowls that have been passed down through generations,” said Bill Hedge, director of prepared foods at Balducci’s. “Balducci’s is happy to place your order on a plate from home. Just simply bring in your dish when picking up your order.”

Balducci’s Food Lover’s Market is a gourmet specialty food retailer, founded in 1916, with stores in New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia and an On the Go Café in New York City.

It offers hand-selected produce, a variety of meats roasted and smoked in Old World tradition, fish flown in fresh from the wharves, restaurant-quality prepared foods, imported cheeses, and Balducci’s own brand offerings.
