Kids in Sports offers franchise opportunity

kids_in_sportsAfter more than 15 years of success in New York City and Greenwich, Michael Strutt and Kenneth Colon, founders of Kids in Sports, are ready to expand their business through franchising.

Kids in Sports is a specialized sports program for children ages 12 months to 12 years. It teaches the fundamentals of baseball, basketball, football, floor hockey, lacrosse, soccer and volleyball. In addition to offering a wide variety of sports classes, Kids in Sports runs several camps and hosts birthday parties.

It was Mr. Strutt’s and Mr. Colon’s passion for sports and coaching that led them to design programs that teach children the fundamentals of sports in a safe, fun, friendly and supportive environment.

“We created a proprietary curriculum and teaching aids that, in addition to the basic rules and skills of sports, teaches children sportsmanship, teamwork, respect and communication – the building blocks for young athletes,” said Mr.Strutt.

The founders know sports first-hand. They each competed in collegiate sports and earned degrees in physical education and exercise physiology.

They’ve taught physical education, and worked as personal trainers and coaches.

They brought their expertise to Kids in Sports when they realized that the younger children develop the proper skills the better chance they have for success in the long-term.

“We started with 30 kids in an after-school program 15 years ago,” said Mr. Colon.

Today Kids in Sports consistently teaches more than 1,200 children per week in different locations.

“I can honestly say it is the best children’s program around. … Kids in Sports understands what each child is capable of from a developmental standpoint and they help each child reach his/her potential through encouragement and positive reinforcement. I found that when it came time for competitive teams sports, Kids in Sports had prepared my children — they had the skills and sportsmanship to get the most out of their sports experiences,” said Dr. Laura Ross.

“So many people inquired about Kids in Sports coming to their neighborhood that we decided to look into the best option for expanding and franchising was the logical choice,” said Strutt. “We are now looking for franchisees who want to run a business that is both rewarding and fun, enjoy teaching children and of course love sports.”

The estimated cost to open a Kids in Sports is between $202,750 and $331,250, which includes a franchise fee of $35,000.

Franchisees will receive the Kids in Sports proprietary curriculum and teaching aids, site selection and buildout assistance, a comprehensive training program that covers every aspect of running the business, proven marketing systems to build enrollment quickly, and use of a proprietary IT system to more easily manage the business.
