United Way to hold annual Oktoberfest

Greenwich residents Melissa Levin and Erin McCall are chairing the sixth annual Greenwich United Way Oktoberfest celebration which is coming up Oct. 24 at The Loading Dock in Stamford.

They have formed a team of volunteers who are planning a night of Bavarian style foods and specialty beer and wine, live music, dancing, tempting silent auction items and much more.

The event begins at 7 p.m. and is one of the more popular United Way events of the year.

While new to the United Way’s Oktoberfest, Ms. McCall and Ms. Levin are active members of the Sole Sisters, the United Way’s Women’s Initiative.

This spring they served as organizers of the Sole Sisters Luncheon Patron Party.

Additionally, they co-chaired last year’s Putnam Indian Field School Auction and they have several Bruce Museum galas to their credit.

Last year more 300 supporters, sponsors and guests were on hand as Oktoberfest 2013 launched the United Way’s eightieth year of identifying and meeting local health and human service needs.
