ISD fourth graders got an up close look at the Guggenheim Museum.

The fourth grade class from the International School at Dundee (ISD) took a trip into the big city with its 10th annual visit to the Guggenheim Museum. The April trip was part of ISD’s International Baccalaureate unit on how we Express Ourselves, exploring how art reflects culture. In preparation for the visit, fourth grade students researched different aspects of painting, sculpture, architecture and writing, connected with the Italian Futurists movement and its rejection of classical forms. During the six-week interdisciplinary unit, students worked with various media on four different art projects, and created their own written manifesto with regard to a personal belief.

The unit culminated with a the museum visit and The Italian Futurist Fourth Grade art show, featuring some 300 student works, took place on May 22.
