Classes for kids at the Garden Education Center began this week.

The Garden Education Center of Greenwich is starting a new nature play group.

The Mushrooms Nature Play Group is a time for parents and caregivers to feel more confident exploring nature together with their little ones. It’s a venue to socialize in nature, share their tips and concerns, and learn to gearing up safely for nature-based enrichment. The first class was held on Wednesday and it will continue on from there.

The GEC’s Mushrooms is a part of the growing Natural Families Network at ChildrenandNature.org. Children & Nature Network (C&NN Connect) was created to support people and organizations working worldwide to reconnect children and nature. Invite your friends and help spread the word.

According to the Garden Education Center, participants will do a micro nature hike and set up some hands-on natural play items and resources. They’ll also welcome a visiting guest from the Rainforest Action Network who’ll share how she is helping local moms advocate for healthy children.

This is a brand new group, and participants are invited to help build it together. Recommended ages are up to and including age three, with caregivers.
