On March 22, the Captain Matthew Mead Branch # 11, the Greenwich/Stamford chapter of the Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (S.A.R.), held its 84th Annual Meeting at Indian Harbor Yacht Club.

Thomas Bartley Gorin, branch president, presided over the meeting in which reports were given, new members were recognized, and awards were given out for outstanding community services.

Jason Bacon, a Greenwich High School junior, was awarded the Bronze Good Citizenship Medal which recognizes persons whose achievements are noteworthy in their school, community or state.

Jason was recognized as an outstanding high school junior for his various community activities, especially for his work orchestrating the Greenwich Wreaths Across America ceremony for the past two years, and also for placing flags at local cemeteries on Memorial and Veterans Days.

He is an Honorary President of the Mary Bush Chapter of the Connecticut Society of the Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.). Under his term, the society collected over $4,000 and materials, which were donated to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. The society increased membership and was recognized with many national awards.

Jason is also the current Connecticut C.A.R State President.

His state project for this year is to support the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation in Bloomfield, which trains seeing-eye dogs for blind veterans.
