Nancy Catherine Whiteman, 61, business owner, wish granter

Nancy Catherine Whiteman, age 61, of Bridgeport died on Aug. 15.

She was born in Bridgeport to the late Eaden M. Whiteman Jr. and Catherine Ann Whiteman and was a graduate of Andrew Warde High School and Southern Connecticut State University.

Ms. Whiteman is remembered as the owner of Tag-It-Systems. Prior to that she was the manager for the Angus and the Peppermill Restaurant and friends and family say she was passionate about fund raising for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For many years she ran fund-raisers to support this cause.

Family said she was a gentle and caring person who was extremely generous to all those around her.

She is survived by her two sisters, Martha Whiteman Bohlin of Dover, Mass., and Suzanne Pepe and her husband, Bill of Greenwich; her brother Michael Whiteman and his wife, Jamie, of Monroe and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Pamela Ann Whiteman Callahan of Tampa, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, people may make a donation in honor of Ms. Whiteman to the Make-A-Wish Foundation at 4742 North 24th Street, Suite 400, Phoenix, AZ 85016.
