Recently the Green Fingers Garden Club, a member of the Garden Clubs of America (GCA) and The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc., had their annual meeting where new board members were appointed and awards were given for outstanding distinction in several areas.

Every three years Green Fingers stages a GCA major flower show, “Preview of Spring.” The show, scheduled to be open and free to the public on Friday, Feb. 27, and Saturday, Feb. 28, is called Hanami, Celebrating the Transient Beauty of Flowers.

Exhibited at the show will be floral designs, horticultural specimens, photography, botanical paintings and jewelry, and conservation and educational displays.

Funds raised from the show go towards civic improvement projects in Greenwich. Earlier this year Green Fingers pledged to partner with Greenwich Point Conservancy (GPC) on the Old Barn restoration project at Greenwich Point, Old Greenwich.

Other recent projects have included teaming up Greenwich Community Gardens and Family Centers, Inc. to create a Butterfly Teaching Garden at Armstrong Court, donating the landscaping at the Island Beach Ferry Landing, and helping to landscape the Senior Center at GADC, Wilbur Peck and Pathways.
