The best of Greenwich was on display last week with a special event at the Delamar Hotel, promoted by Moffly Media, publisher of Greenwich Magazine. Food, music and entertainment highlighted the display of what had been ranked best in town.

There was food from restaurants as varied as L’escale, Aux Delices, Rebecca’s Italian Steakhouse, Joey B’s, and Bobby Q’s barbecue. But throughout the night, one of the most popular setups belonged to the Melt Mobile, which brought its food truck there to serve grilled cheese and consistently had long lines. There was live music at the event, which was held under a warm but enjoyably breezy night by the water at the Delamar, from Nanny Assis Brazilian Duo and Island Breeze.

The Best of Greenwich winners were voted by the readers of Greenwich Magazine.

Sponsors  for the event include Bulgari, Charles Hilton Architects, County TV & Appliance, Greenwich Medical Spa, Greenwich Wealth Management, Houlihan Lawrence, Manfredi Jewels, New Country Porsche of Greenwich, Sperry Tents of Greenwich, and The Sunseeker Club Inc.

The annual Best of Greenwich event isn’t just an excuse for everyone to get together for an evening of fun, though. It is also a benefit for the Greenwich-based Family Centers, which provides social services throughout lower-Fairfield County. Family Centers also set up a table inside the Delamar to spread the word about its work and how the community can help.

The evening was also a special one for the Moffly family. Jack Moffly celebrated his birthday and was presented with a special mocha chantilly cake from DiMare Pastry Shop in Riverside. The cake had Mr. Moffly’s face on it and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), a Greenwich resident, attended specifically for the cake cutting and to wish a happy birthday to Mr. Moffly.

Notable attendees for the event also included State Sen. L. Scott Frantz, State Rep. Fred Camillo and Selectman Drew Marzullo. Post photographer John Ferris Robben was also on the scene and a slideshow of his images will be available Monday at Greenwich-post.com.
