Is it a case of deja vu with Greenwich Reform Synagogue?

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

Some seven years ago the Greenwich Reform Synagogue applied with The Stanwich School for permission to build a joint campus at 257 Stanwich Road.

But, after all approvals were granted, the synagogue pulled out of the agreement with the school and then sued it. My personal sense is that they hoped to gain extra funds from the school to withdraw from the campus than had originally been agreed upon.

The synagogue’s current suit against the town to overturn the decision of the Zoning Board of Appeals seems to be deja vu all over again. The desire of the Cos Cob neighbors to maintain small homes is reasonable and in compliance with the Plan of Conservation and Development.

Why does the leadership of the Greenwich Reform Synagogue wish to force itself on its neighbors? That’s not the way to endear themselves to them.
