To celebrate Greenwich Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and dediatric department, people went ‘Under the Stars’ last month.

This year the annual summer fund-raiser had a nautical theme and took place at Riverside Yacht Club where more than 300 guests from Fairfield and Westchester counties  came out in support of the hospital’s smallest and most vulnerable patients.

The weather cooperated, allowing attendees to enjoy a canopy of evening stars with dinner and dancing against the backdrop of Long Island Sound. There was also a silent, live and wine auction as guest auctioneer Simon Teakle conducted what was called “spirited bidding” for items like a week’s stay at a luxury vacation resort in Mexico, lunch and street hockey lesson with Cam Atkinson of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Jimmy Hayes of the Florida Panthers and breakfast for four with U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal at the Capitol in Washington D.C. and a staff tour.

Greenwich residents Brooke Bremer, Lauren O’Malley and Jessica Reardon, RN, served as this year’s co-chairs and the event brought out many notable Greenwich citizens including Greenwich Selectman Drew Marzullo.

Greenwich Hospital President and CEO, Frank Corvino, thanked the crowd for supporting the hospital’s comprehensive children’s health services.

“We greatly appreciate the unique partnership we share with all of you, our sponsors, donors and everyone in our community who understand the importance of having state-of-the-art health care so close to home,” he said.

Greenwich Hospital honored Sue Brown, R.N., M.S., the senior vice president for patient care services and chief nursing officer. Ms. Brown was credited as “the driving force in transforming the maternity, labor and delivery department into a multi-disciplinary service line that offers mothers and mothers-to-be a level of comprehensive care unparalleled in our region” as well as establishing the hospital’s neonatal unit and perinatology departments at the hospital, among other accomplishments.
