Friends of Austitic People hosts expert Michael Powers

Friends of Autistic People (FAP) and Easter Seals recently held a workshop with autism expert Michael Powers on the new definition of autism spectrum disorder found in the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) published by the American Psychiatric Association.

Parents of children with high-functioning autism or Asperger’s expressed concerns that their child might be excluded by the new definition and left without autism services.

As the director and founder of the Center for Children with Special Needs in Glastonbury, England, Dr. Powers specializes in diagnosing autism.
