Greenwich turned out for the 2014 Fairfield County Women Against MS Luncheon, held May 12, at the Hyatt Regency in Old Greenwich.

Andy Porrino, who in 1992 was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a potentially debilitating disease, is a longtime supporter of the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, and a member of the Women Against MS steering committee. Her husband, Peter, is a member of the chapter’s board of trustees.

As the event’s speaker, Elizabeth Smart shared her heroic tale of survival and overcoming adversity following her kidnapping and nine-month captivity when she was only 14 years old. More than 280 guests attended the luncheon, which exceeded its $100,000 fundraising goal.

The event was hosted by award winning television journalist Kendra Farn, a resident of Old Greenwich.
