College essay seminar at Cos Cob Library

Friends of the Cos Cob Library and library staff will welcome Cos Cob resident Michele Turk to present a free seminar for high school seniors on how to write an impressive college admissions essay.

Participants will learn how to select appropriate topics and themes, how to organize and focus their essay and how to avoid common essay mistakes.

Ms. Turk has worked as a writer and editor for two decades and she is an adjunct writing professor at Quinnipiac University. Her articles have appeared in Business Week, USA Weekend, Parents and U.S. News and World Report, among other publications.

Ms. Turk is the author of Blood, Sweat and Tears: An Oral History of the American Red Cross, and co-editor of Inkstained, a collection of essays by the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism Class of 1992.
