Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich celebrates Holidays in July

Does Santa prefer spending his summer alone at the North Pole or spending it with kids? The answer to that is obvious, especially when he gets the chance to mingle with kids from the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich.

For 14 years, Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich’s Camp Simmons has been hosting Holidays in July and it’s coming back this week. Campers will feel the holiday spirit on Friday, July 25, when special guest Santa Claus rides in on his summer sleigh, which is also used as a a fire truck, along with the Greenwich Fire Department from the North Street Station to bring cheer to them all.

More than 200 campers, counselors in training and Camp Simmons staff will enjoy a day of holiday-themed festivities in early celebration of the winter holidays. Kris Kringle, along with his summer sleigh riders, will hose down campers to cool them down from the summer heat — and just because it’s fun.

This event is to take place rain or shine, Friday, July 25, at 12:15 at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich Camp Simmons at 744 Lake Avenue.

This event is a Camp Simmons tradition and has been hosted by BGCG for 14 years. The campers look forward to this celebration, and the firefighters of the North Street Fire Department enjoy interacting with the kids.
