Island Beach ferry to operate reduced weekend schedule due to mechanical issue

Greenwich ferry users will have to adjust plans as service to Island Beach will be reduced for the weekend.

On Friday afternoon, the town announced that due to “unforeseen mechanical issues,” the M/V Island Beach will be out of service for the weekend.  As a result, ferry service to Island Beach will run every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The forecast for the weekend is bright and sunny so there is expected to be a demand for Island Beach. But while service will run, it will be at the reduced schedule.

Because of this, the Jazz on the Sound concert scheduled for Sunday, July 13 will be postponed to Sunday, July 20.  The concert will feature a Dixieland Jazz band which will play on the 4 p.m. Island Beach ferry, continue playing on Island Beach, and play again on the return trip 5:30 p.m. ferry.

For more information, call 203-618-7649, or visit Greenwichct.org. All park pass fees and ferry fees apply. For rain postponement information call the Parks and Recreation weather line at 203-861-6100.
