Karina Saari, 37, remembered for thoughtfulness

Karina Elizabeth Saari, 37, died July 24 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Greenwich on May 10, 1975, and is survived by her father and mother, Len and Yanna Saari of Riverside, her sister, Allison Saari (Josh) Byrne of Boston, Mass., and her beloved dog, Dune.

She attended Greenwich public schools, Choate Rosemary Hall, Middlebury College , Rhode Island School of Design and SUNY Purchase and throughout her life she was an enthusiastic participant in team sports, including lacrosse, field hockey, squash, tennis, basketball, ice hockey, swimming and softball. She also loved skiing, horseback riding and golf and, most recently, she was a member of a USTA tennis team.

 

Her family said that she will be remembered by her many friends and co-workers at CPG Architects in Stamford for her ready smile, thoughtfulness and artistic flair.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at First Congregational Church of Greenwich in Old Greenwich. Online condolences may be made by visiting leopgallaghergreenwich.com
