Billy and the Showmen will kick off the summer concert series in town on July 9.

The Department of Parks and Recreation has announced that Billy and the Showmen will be performing in the Wednesday Night Concert Series.

The Greenwich Police Silver Shield will sponsor this concert and it will take place at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park on July  9 with a rain date set for the following day, July 10.

Billy and the Showmen is a 10-piece R &B Band based out of Greenwich that has thrilled audiences for more than 40 years, performing throughout the Northeast Region and New York City. During the 70’s and 80’s they had “double-duty” as the back up band for The Chiffons and most recently became the band behind Billy Vera during his East Coast performance at “Alive at Five” in Stamford, as seen on VH-1 Music TV.

If you like Motown and “soul” music performed by a full rhythm section and driven by a horn section this performance in the park will be for you.

Roger Sherman Baldwin Park is located on Arch Street by the Teen Center, and Island Beach Ferry Dock. For weather cancellation information call 203-861-6100 after 4 p.m.

For more information, call the Recreation Office at 203-618-7649, or visit Greenwichct.org for a complete concert listing.
