Whole Foods Market Greenwich lit up the grill on May 30 but this wasn’t your average summer barbecue.

The event was done to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter. Brunswick School sixth graders Mike Pastore and Graham Rogozinski volunteered beside Ashley Larkin, the marketing team leader and community liaison, Linda Kyriakos, the culinary demonstration specialist and Bryan Boderick, customer service team member for the event, which provided hungry people with lunch to benefit a good cause.

The team sold two hotdogs or vegan burgers, a snack, cookies, fruit and a drink for five dollars to boost the fight against Alzheimer’s. And this is not a one-time thing either. The Whole Foods Market Greenwich Goodwill from the Grill sells lunch to raise money to benefit different causes with the Goodwill Team underwriting all products. It donates all money raised to a local non-profit organization. In this case, to the Alzheimer’s Association/ CT Chapter.

During grilling season, the Whole Foods Market Greenwich Goodwill from the Grill gets requests to host a fund-raiser at least once per month. All fund-raisers are held outside, under the green tent at Whole Foods Market Greenwich which is at 90 East Putnam Avenue.

The team raises money to spread awareness of causes while helping that cause earn funds to reach its goal. The Whole Foods Market Greenwich Goodwill from the Grill has helped many local organizations raise money and awareness for their cause, including Friends of Autistic People, The Greenwich Fire Department and the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich.

“We hold the Goodwill from the Grill because it’s part of our (Whole Foods Market) core values to give back to our local and global communities,” Ms. Larkin said. “And because we want to be good neighbors.”
