Greenwich offers Seamless Summer Foods Program

The Greenwich Public Schools will participate in the federally funded Seamless Summer Food Program.

Through this program, nutritious meals are provided to all children 18 years of age and under. The meals are free of charge and will be provided this summer at Hamilton Avenue School at 184 Hamilton Avenue.

The program begins on July 1 and continues through Aug. 12. Breakfast will be served weekdays from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Lunch will be served weekdays from 1 to 1:45 p.m. No service will be provided on the weekends or on July 4, as the school will be closed for the Independence Day Holiday.

The Connecticut State Department of Education has praised the program, saying, “The Seamless Summer Food Program (SSFP) combines features of National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). It reduces paperwork and administrative burden, making it easier for schools to feed children from low-income areas during the traditional summer vacation periods.”
