We need to work together to carry the nation’s inspiring message

Ignoring their blitzkrieg, Obama casually states that ISIS is causing a “moderate but prolonged threat.” Of course, it’s only “young ISIS volunteers” from the U.S., Canada and Britain with at least 100 Americans, all with western passports — what’s to worry about?

From its beginning, ISIS has stated its plans to send out “terror teams” to disrupt our “infidel systems” and destroy our ways of life. I have been trying since the first attack on the World Trade Center, on Feb. 26, 1993, to get across the need for civil defense like networks across North America that incorporate citizens with military, intelligence and first responder training.

The DC Beltway snipers, right after 9/11, proved how disruptive a few lightly armed gunmen can be, tying up and overwhelming three police departments. In the late 1930s we were not at war, yet Hollywood and radio media were gearing up and promoting idealistic, patriotic themes. At the same time Americans, Canadians and British volunteered for the Lincoln Brigade, fighting against fascism in Spain.

These mutated idealist ISIS volunteers are religious crackpots. The ISIS Internet recruiting campaign must be top notch, yet it’s so insanely wrong and we see that in the young volunteers who are ready to give their lives.

Communities must start civil defense units and we must urge Hollywood, especially the music industry of today, to regroup and revamp current themes, messages, mediums and creative musical expression to help inspire the citizenry to see what our country truly stands for and what we could lose, as in WWII.

The press must help as well. Creative arts can set better courses for our American ship and for a rebirth of what’s noble in America. The music industry and Hollywood must put teams of creative people together, not to disrupt and destroy like ISIS, but to inspire, promote the better part of man.

With bipartisan and private sector help, creative teams will strengthen, creating defenses while enlightening all the world to the original, basic great ideals of our society.
