The Short Bus performs Aug. 1

Popular local group The Short Bus is set to take the stage Wednesday, Aug. 1, for the town’s Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday Night Concert Series at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.

The Greenwich Police Silver Shield will be sponsoring this concert which is scheduled for 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. In case of bad weather, there is an Aug. 2 rain date.

In their 10 years of performing, The Short Bus has built a big following in town as one of the county’s best cover bands. They recently won Best Cover Band in the Best of the Gold Coast poll, which is the fifth time they’ve done it. The Short Bus consists of singer Mark Zelenz, lead guitarist Ernie Albert, bassist Chris Goane, drummer Kenny Muller and rhythm guitarist Joe DiMarsico. The band’s repertoire ranges from the Rolling Stones, Van Morrison and AC/DC to more current material from Coldplay, Maroon 5, Snoop Dog and Pink.

Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner, a blanket and come out for some music under the stars. Roger Sherman Baldwin Park is located on Arch Street by the Teen Center and Island Beach Ferry Dock.

For rain cancellation information call 203-618-7650 after 4 p.m.

The weekly concert series also has performances set for Aug. 8 from the Beatles tribute band Octopuses Garden and Aug. 15 with Cynthia Sayer and her jazz quartet.
