UN Youth Assembly Aug. 1

The Greenwich-based Friendship Ambassadors Foundation is set to launch its 11th Youth Assembly (YA) at the United Nations on Aug. 1 and 3 at United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

Opening and Closing Ceremonies will take place in the iconic, UN General Assembly Hall.

Speakers at these events include Illac Diaz, the founder of 1 Liter of Light, Fabian Cousteau, UN Ambassador A.K. Abdul Momen of Bangladesh, UN Ambassador Simona Miculescu of Romania, UN Ambassador Josephine Ojiambo of Kenya, Consul General Nan Ramgoolam of Trinidad and Tobago, youth entrepreneur Talia Leman, actress Monique Coleman of High School Musical fame, and many other UN staff, practitioners in the global development field and youth leaders. And for the first time in the assembly’s history, all accepted registrants will be able to attend UN General Assembly Hall events with no additional fee. To apply, e-mail Catherine De Marzo at [email protected]

The assembly will also offer a $3000 grant competition for entrepreneurial delegates with social ventures. The Resolution Project, a global non-profit, fostering youth leadership development through collaborative social entrepreneurship, has teamed up with the Youth Assembly for this competition and the grant money will be used for the development of social enterprise as well as mentoring from finance professionals interested in youth-led global social ventures.

More than 700 have already registered for the main events at the UN along with more than 135 for the pre-YA, Emerging Global Leaders Seminar, a YA-related Certificate Program at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
