The Round Hill Community Church will host the Konevets Quartet on June 22 for From Russia with Love, a concert featuring Russian sacred choral music as well as Russian and Ukrainian folk songs.

Round Hill’s interim director of music Eugene Sirotkine studied alongside the quartet at the St. Petersburg Music Conservatory, and helped coordinate their appearance in Greenwich.

They are named after the Konevets Island and Monastery of Lake Lodoga, located outside of St. Petersburg.

The island suffered through a period of turmoil but has been revitalized in recent years. The Konevets Quartet was founded in 1992 by graduates of the conservatory’s Glinka Choral Academy and began singing for restoration workers, residents and visitors to the island on behalf of the monastery.

Now, the group tours throughout Russia and internationally, with a portion of their earnings contributing to the Konevets restoration effort.

The concert starts at 4 p.m. in the Round Hill Community Church Sanctuary. Tickets are $25 per adult and $5 per child, and a reception will be held following the show. Additionally, the Konevets Quartet will be a part of the church’s 10 a.m. Sunday Service earlier in the day.
