Bob Button Orchestra opens summer concert season

The Department of Parks and Recreation will welcome the Bob Button Orchestra June 25 for the first Wednesday Night Concert of the summer season.

The 12-piece big band orchestra will be playing swing era classics with vocalist Gail Clear at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m.

The band will also be accompanied by female vocal group Button and Bows, and a dance floor will be laid out in front of the bandstand for those looking to shake a leg. A rain date has been set for the following day, June 26, in case inclimate weather strikes.

Upcoming concerts include R&B group Billy and the Showman on July 9, and country band Gunsmoke on July 16.

The Wednesday Night Concerts at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park are free and open to the public.

For more information, call the Recreation Office at 203-618-7649. The rain postponement number is 203-861-6100 after 4 p.m. on the day of the concert.
