Greenwich Campership Program needs donations

The Greenwich Department of Social Services’ Campership program is in need of donations for children currently on their waiting list.

The program, which works to sponsor Greenwich children who cannot afford the cost of summer camp, has registered more than 250 children to attend day camps in Greenwich in addition to two sleep away camps in Connecticut.

There are currently 48 children age four to 14 waiting for a spot to become available. The campership program aids families as well by allowing parents to keep working through the summer months and eliviating the cost of full-time child care.

The program is funded solely through community contributions and donations of any amount are appreciated. Those looking to sponsor a camper may do so at $350 for a two-week session, or $475 for a three-week session. Checks for donations should be made payable to The Greenwich Campership Fund.
