More thunderstorms expected Monday in Greenwich area

Monday could feature “scattered to numerous thunderstorms” in Greenwich, according to a hazardous weather outlook issued Monday by the National Weather Service. But it could be worse west of Connecticut.

The weather service said the storms are expected to develop Monday afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front. “Some of these storms may produce damaging wind gusts, heavy rain, frequent lighting and hail, especially from New York City north and west.”

The weather service forecasts says the showers and thunderstorms in Greenwich will likely start after 2 p.m. And there will be a high near 84. There’s a 60% chance of rain, which could bring a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain — more with thunderstorms.

Monday night could bring more storms with gusty winds and frequent lighting as the low nears 71.

There’s a chance of more showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday, mainly between noon and 3, according to the weather service. Otherwise it will be partly sunny with a high near 87. Tuesday night’s low is forecast around 65.

Wednesday is expected to be sunny with a high of 83; low of 67.

Thursday could feature more showers with a high of 81; low of 71.

Friday could also feature showers with a high of 80; low of 70.
