YWCA Greenwich’s Lynch sets National Age Group record

YWCA Greenwich Dolphins Swim Team’s Meghan Lynch, 10, set a new National Age Group record, and five others, during the recent Connecticut Aquatic Club Qualifier Meet at Wesleyan University.

During the three-day Connecticut Aquatics Club qualifier meet at Wesleyan University, YWCA Greenwich Dolphins Swim Team’s Meghan Lynch swam to a new National Age Group Long Course record.

Competing in the 100-meter breaststroke, she touched the wall with a blistering time of  1:18.67. Her victory added to her National Age Group Short Course Records at 50- and 100-yard breaststroke events.

In addition, Lynch set 10-and-under Connecticut state records in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:17.97, the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:33.76, the 50-meter breaststroke (36.98 seconds) and the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 29.52.

Lynch also swam to a Dolphins team record in the 50-meter backstroke, touching the wall with a time of 35.30.

She has been a Dolphins Team member since the age of five.

“Meghan is easy to coach,” said assistant coach Jeremy Cochran. “She trains hard, practices with intensity, loves to win and is a great teammate.”
