Greenwich High’s football schedule set for the fall

It might only be June, but the Greenwich High School football team is already gearing up for the upcoming fall season.

With spring football practices kicking off, the Cardinals now know their opponents for the fall season.

Greenwich’s season kicks off on the road, as they travel to Ken Strong Stadium on Sept. 12 for a game against West Haven High School at 7 p.m. as part of the FCIAC/SWC Football Challenge.

From there, Big Red play their first home game of the season on Sept. 19, when they host Darien High School at Cardinal Stadium. In week three, it’s back on the road, as the Cards travel to Dunning Stadium for a Saturday matinee against New Canaan High School.

After a home Thursday night game against Trinity Catholic High School to start the month of October, Greenwich will travel to Testa Field in Norwalk for a game against the Bears on Oct. 10. Then it’s rematch time, as the Trumbull High Eagles fly into Cardinal Stadium on Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.

After visiting Fairfield Warde High School on Oct. 24, Greenwich returns home for a Halloween special against Bridgeport Central.

On Nov. 8, the Cardinals travel for the final time in the regular season when take the short trip to Stamford and play Westhill High School at 2 p.m.

Six days later, Big Red hosts Danbury High School, which sets up a Thanksgiving battle against rival Staples High School to end the regular season.
