Longshore Sailing School makes new hire

Longshore Sailing School has added a new member to its team, Jane Pimentel, of South Norwalk, to head up Greenwich Community Sailing.

Ms. Pimental has many accolades to her name. She is a U.S. Sailing Association Award-Winner for Excellence in Instruction and a certified STEM Educator.

She is a U.S. Sailing Association certified Level 1 Instructor Trainer, Small Boat Level 3 Coach and Powerboat Instructor.

“We are so pleased to have Jane on board at Greenwich Community Sailing,” said John Kantor, owner of Longshore Sailing School.

“Her excellent record of sailing and teaching experience and her enthusiasm for the sport are a perfect combination as we start our 54th summer, and we all look forward to working with her.”

Ms. Pimental joins Greenwich Community Sailing from Community Boating Center, Inc. in New Bedford, Mass., where she served as Progarm Director, running sailing and power boating programs for both children and adults.

While at the New Bedford Community Boating Center, she increased program participation and implemented US Sailings REACH program into school sailing programs, in addition to reaching broader clientele in support of adult and power boating programs through Internet marking and social media.

She also managed the staff, planned events and created new opportunities for sailors to participate in the local junior circuit.

“This is a very good move for me,” said Ms. Pimentel. “I loved working at Community Boating Center, but I am thrilled to join GCS this season.”
