Sacred Heart lax wins in OT to set up rematch with GA in FAA finals

Trailing 9-7 at halftime, the Convent of the Sacred Heart lacrosse team settled down on defense and crawled back into its game against Greens Farms Academy in the Fairchester Athletic Association semifinals.

With the defense clicking, the Tigers were able to knot the game at 13-13 to end regulation and went on to beat the Dragons 16-14 to set up a rematch with Greenwich Academy for the FAA title.

In overtime, the trio of Colleen O’Neill, Alice Millerchip and Katie Miller each netted a goal to put the game out of reach. Miller led all scorers for CSH with four goals, while O’Neill finished with the hat trick and two assists. O’Neill also caused 10 turnovers and netted 10 groundballs, while Miller had 10 draw controls and six groundballs.

Millerchip contributed with two goals and one assist.

In addition, Meg Gerli also finished with two goals and one assist, while Kate Larkin finished with two goals and Charlotte Jeffrey added a goal. Haley Horn added two assists and Charlie Clark netted one in the winning effort.

Between the pipe for the Tigers was Amanda Crowell and she finished with two saves.

With the thrilling victory, Sacred Heart will once again battle Greenwich Academy for the FAA championship.
