North Mianus School is often the hub of activity in the neighborhood and that’s never more true than when the Pow Wow is taking place.

The annual event, which is put on by the North Mianus School PTA, recently returned to Greenwich as the first carnival of the season. It was held May 2 and 3 and attracted people from all over town, not just the North Mianus School community. But the most impressive part wasn’t the rides or games but that it happened at all.

“The North Mianus School Pow Wow was a tremendous success this year in spite of the terrible rain that badly flooded our field/fairground,” Anne Vranos, a co-president of the North Mianus PTA, said. “Our success is attributed to everyone who helped ready the field for the Pow Wow.  In particular we’d like to thank Highland Sewer and Drain for their immediate response and outstanding effort in clearing our field.”

Ms. Vranos also thanked town officials for giving them the go-ahead and parent volunteers who rushed to set everything up after the rain.

“Friday afternoon was a beautiful day to host the first spring fair in Greenwich,” Ms. Vranos said. “We are so proud of the efforts put forth by the North Mianus community. The PTA depends on the success of the Pow Wow to enhance our curriculum enrichment programs.”

Post photographer John Ferris Robben was on the scene and more images of his will be available online Monday at Greenwich-post.com.
